Joe Lays the Foundations for a Great Career

Former Lincoln College student Joe Gray will be putting his skills into practice during a sell-out production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Lincoln Cathedral.

The 18-year-old from Lincoln, who completed the Level 3 Diploma in Professional Make-up Artistry course in June, has been chosen as the lead make-up artist on the production.

Over 200 amateur performers are taking part in the musical which is on at Lincoln Cathedral until 1st August. The tickets for all 10 performances sold out within days of going on sale.

Joe hopes this experience will help him to secure a full-time job as a make-up artist: “This is an excellent opportunity for me to gain some real-life experience and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to work on such a popular production.

“I’m hoping it will put me in good stead for a career as a professional make-up artist. Ultimately I’d really like to work for a magazine.”

Director of Jesus Christ Superstar Ben Poole, who also plays the role of Christ, said: “Working with such a huge company on this scale is a fantastic challenge. Our aims in bringing Superstar to Lincoln are more than theatrical – it’s about building community, nurturing local talent and bringing a fresh generation of visitors to this beautiful venue, all while raising much needed funds for the Cathedral.
“We’ve been overwhelmed that so many incredibly talented people like Joe have come forward to be a part of this process and donate their time and energy freely to create something spectacular; not only actors, dancers and singers but also musicians, stage managers and national companies who have given so much time and advice to support the production technically.”

Lincoln, Gainsborough and Newark Colleges still have spaces on full and part-time vocational courses, apprenticeship schemes, GCSE, A-level and degree courses. To find out more visit www.lincolncollege.ac.uk or call 030 030 32435
