This is the second cycling challenge for Oli Phillips, following the success of last year’s D&T Riding for Ryan campaign.

Thrill Seeking Trio Tackle Championship Sportive

Three cycling enthusiasts from Duncan & Toplis will be hitting the same trail as the cycling world elite this weekend.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the annual Lincoln Grand Prix, there will be four days of races including the 2015 National Road Race Championships on Sunday 28th June, which will see the likes of Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas and defending champion Peter Kennaugh battle it out for the coveted national jersey.

As sponsors, Duncan & Toplis will have a stand at Cadwell Park, which is hosting the British Cycling National Time Trail Championships on Thursday 25th June, and Lincoln Castle, which is the finishing line for the weekend’s National Road Race Championship and Championship Sportive.

On Saturday 27th June the Duncan & Toplis team, made up of Oli Phillips, Daniel Smithson and Leigh Macdonald, are taking part in the Championship Sportive event.

The trio, who hail from the Lincoln, Newark and Louth offices, will cycle a 76-mile course, which will take them through the challenging Lincolnshire Wolds and end with a cobbled climb up Michaelgate to the finish line at Lincoln Castle.

“We’re looking forward to the challenges the Championship Sportive will bring,” said Oli Phillips, an accountant at Duncan & Toplis.

This is Oli’s second cycling challenge and follows the success of last year’s D&T Riding for Ryan, in which he and colleague Sam Mosedale cycled a 201-mile route taking in each of the 10 Duncan & Toplis offices on 31st July and 1st August.

“As a cycling enthusiast to have this sort of event on your doorstep is a blessing and I was eager to get the rest of the team involved too,” said Oli. “I’m pleased that Leigh has decided to return, as he was also involved in the Riding for Ryan campaign.

“As part of our training we have all been completing shorter rides over the past few months and have even started running. This will be the furthest we have ridden since D&T Riding for Ryan so we are looking forward to another challenge. There has been a slight change to our team but we are raring to go and hoping it doesn’t rain!”
