St Hugh’s Kit Out Girls’ Football Team
As part of its active community work, HMT St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby has brought a full team kit for the girls’ football team at New Waltham Academy.
The school put an appeal for a new kit in its newsletter which parent and St Hugh’s employee Paul Blackbourn brought to the attention of the management team at the hospital.
New Waltham Academy’s girls’ football team is really popular and girls aged between eight and 11 represent the school in a local tournament which runs from October through to March.
Rebecca Wilson, Sports Leader at the school, said: “The girls in our football team are dedicated and passionate about sport. They attend regular training sessions after school and some have been signposted to development squads having shown exceptional talent.
“I’m pleased that the team will now have a kit which they can be proud of. They deserve to run out onto the pitch and feel the pride that comes from representing the school.”
HMT St Hugh’s Hospital has provided financial support to several projects aimed at getting more people active in Lincolnshire. Young cyclists are finding their feet thanks to the NEL Go Ride group and runners are preparing to go the distance during the Great Grimsby 10k.
Gary Allington, Health Promotion Officer at the hospital, said: “HMT St Hugh’s aims to improve health and wellbeing across the county through healthcare, research projects and health promotion projects.
“By funding the kit for the girls’ football team at New Waltham Academy we hope to help the team feel a sense of unity as they play together on behalf of their school. We’re looking forward to hearing how they do during their next season.”
