Accountancy Advice for Budding Boston Businesses

Leading chartered accountants Duncan & Toplis are set to deliver savvy business advice in May with two events taking place in Boston.

Those wanting to learn about the Business Improvement and Growth Acceleration (BIGA) service are invited to join in with a Going for Goals workshop that will explain the service on Tuesday 10th May.

The BIGA service provides ‘light bulb moments’ to businesses seeking to grow as well as a workable plan to kick-start companies’ next phase of growth. It also means firms can get an independent review to help them realise plans of action for growth.

Duncan & Toplis provides the BIGA service in association with Alison Rex of Rex Associates. Alison will be delivering the workshops, which aim to give a flavour of what the service offers to businesses and how.

Alison said: “Business is becoming hypercompetitive, with constant changes in technology and global growth. It’s so important that companies don’t get entrenched in their way of doing things and get left behind. These workshops will encourage businesses to reflect on their activities and move forward.

“They will also learn more about why innovation plays a vital part in the future success of any business no matter what size, age or sector.”

Two days later, businesses are also invited to the first annual Boston Business Briefing being arranged in collaboration with the Boston Town Team. The briefing is taking place at the town’s Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre.

At the event, being staged in association with organisations from across the county, Duncan & Toplis’ Tax Director Christine Newitt will be delivering an update on the recent Budget as well as advice on practical tax planning opportunities.

Other speakers on the day include Simon Beardsley of the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, James Fairman from Poyntons Consultancy and Daniel Elkington and Desley Sherwin of Chattertons.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to put questions to a panel representing planning in Boston and the Environment Agency.

Christine said: “This is a great opportunity to get the very latest information and advice pertinent to business in Boston and beyond. It is a new venture for Boston and we hope businesses will be supportive of it.”

The BIGA workshop takes place at Duncan & Toplis’ Boston office on Endeavour Park, PE21 7TT from 8.30am to 10.30am. Places are free and can be booked via www.goingforgoals.eventbrite.co.uk or by calling Emily Baker-Gaunt on 01522 507000.

The Boston Business Briefing takes place on Thursday 12th May, from 2.45pm to 5.30pm. Tickets are £10, with proceeds going to the Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre. Those wanting to attend can purchase via the box office on 01205 363108 or by visiting www.ticketsource.co.uk/blackfriars
