Education Sector

In an increasingly competitive environment, how can educational establishments like nurseries, schools, colleges and universities thrive? How can these institutions attract and retain students, maintain a strong reputation, and meet the needs of parents, students and staff? The answer is through targeted and strategic marketing. As the education sector becomes more diverse, effective education marketing can help institutions to stand out from the crowd, build trust and communicate their unique value proposition.

Work with the experts

At Shooting Star we have extensive experience of providing marketing for schools and other educational establishments, from nurseries and early years settings to universities and colleges.

For eight years Shooting Star’s Director Jez Ashberry was Press and Media Relations Manager at the University of Lincoln, and Shooting Star handled comms and PR for Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln for four years.

In all the years we’ve worked in the education sector, one constant has remained: increasing competition is one of the main challenges educational establishments face. Parents and students now have many different choices, and it becomes difficult for educational establishments to differentiate themselves and stand out in a crowded field.

Marketing efforts need to be tailored to highlight the unique features of institutions, such as the quality of teaching, extracurricular opportunities, deep connections with communities or the physical environment.

As an experienced education marketing agency, our approach is grounded in results, and we’re proud of the success we’ve achieved with schools like North Kesteven Academy, the Horncastle Education Trust and others. From boosting social engagement to improving search rankings, we’ve helped institutions like yours reach more parents.

Adapt to digital

The internet is now the starting point for people looking for a place for their child, so marketers must adapt to and fully exploit digital platforms such as social media, websites and email campaigns. Digital marketing for schools and other educational institutions requires an investment in creating a strong online presence in order to leverage digital marketing tools effectively.

We understand that marketing for schools is not just about attracting students, but also about sustaining a relationship that nurtures long-term loyalty and enhances the institution’s overall image. Over the years we’ve produced some fantastic results from our marketingPR and digital campaignsIf you’re looking for a trustworthy education marketing agency with bags of experienceyou’ve come to the right place!

North Kesteven Academy

We began working with North Kesteven Academy—an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school—on a full-time basis after initially providing media relations support. Our goal was to capitalise on its rebrand and develop a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy.

Results:

  • Social media growth: we increased the academy’s social media engagement by 32% on Instagram, 22% on Twitter, and 13% on Facebook in the first year alone.
  • Media coverage: we generated 85 pieces of coverage in print and online media, as well as six broadcast items, including spots on BBC Radio Lincolnshire and ITV Calendar News.
  • Enhanced reputation: we helped raise the school’s profile through targeted media relations, including securing positive news stories and submitting an award entry that led to a former student winning the Active Lincolnshire Sportswoman of the Year award.

  • Delivered a new Fennies brochure
  • Created media relations to raise the profile of Fennies
