The Elite Fish & Chip Company is an award-winning fish and chip chain based in Lincolnshire. With outlets in Lincoln, Ruskington and Sleaford the company is unique in that three generations are involved in the day-to-day running. It is something of a Lincolnshire institution, having operated in the county for almost 30 years.
Owner and second-generation family member Adrian Tweedale approached Shooting Star in 2014 to boost the company’s reputation and profile in both the trade and the wider media. Adrian also specified that he wanted to see a 10% increase in sales at the company’s three restaurants and four takeaways.
Shooting Star identified key ways in which the press could be approached and set out to ensure regular coverage through engaging with staff, customers and the trade on a variety of campaigns. Shooting Star have engineered everything from a Christmas Wish campaign which led to national coverage of a WW2 veteran being able to visit his brother’s war grave in Norway, to raising more than £10,000 in ten months during 2016 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Increasing followers and engagement on social media has also been a key focus.
- Since starting to work together in 2014, the Elite has received more than 756 articles in print and online.
- Since 2014, they have been nominated or shortlisted in 35 awards categories across five different ceremonies.
- In 2016, the family raised more than £10,000 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal through fundraising activities including running the London Marathon, cycling the Virgin 100 and holding live music events in its Sleaford restaurant.
- Posts via Facebook regularly reach around 50% of page likes and engagement is consistent at 62%.
We work with Shooting Star daily to underline and take forward the hard work our staff put in to make us one of the county’s favourite fish and chip destinations. Our focus has to be on our customers, and appealing to them has been made easier with Shooting Star’s support. Their work particularly on corporate social responsibility campaigns has been fantastic. We have not only given a war veteran the chance to see his brother’s resting place in Norway as a result of one particular campaign but we’ve also been able to forge links locally and regionally with our campaigns to raise charity funds too.
