Overview
Duncan & Toplis is a leading firm of accountants and business advisers with 11 offices throughout the East Midlands. The firm has many specialisms including tax, business planning, pensions and probate as well as sister companies that deal in investment, wealth management and IT and telecoms. Before working with Shooting Star, the firm had a great reputation and was known well locally and regionally, but had not taken full advantage of media exposure.
Objectives
The firm asked Shooting Star to undertake a long-term campaign to raise its profile among businesses and members of the public across the East Midlands and to gain positive coverage in targeted trade media. The means to grow its reputation as the business expanded was a key part of the company’s PR plan.
Approach
Shooting Star worked closely with Duncan & Toplis’ in-house marketing officer to co-ordinate PR, marketing and social media activity. Emphasis was placed on engaging with the various offices and helping them to understand and value the importance of PR to the success of the firm. We issued regular news releases and pitched the partners as expert commentators and authors to trade media, regional newspapers and magazines. We also took and commissioned photography, promoted events and provided media training.
Results
Shooting Star were very responsive to our needs and a valuable addition to our marketing efforts. Over the years that they worked with us they assisted us in raising our profile both regionally and nationally
