Rollalong

Overview

Rollalong is the largest permanent offsite construction company in the south of England, based in Dorset. 

Rollalong has been designing and constructing bespoke modular buildings for defence, education and residential clients for more than 50 years, and in 2019 completed a £1.1 billion Ministry of Defence Army Basing Programme across Salisbury Plain. 

Objectives

Rollalong approached Shooting Star in 2019 to help the company share its news and industry accomplishments with a wider national audience. 

The aim was to target specific publications and audiences with key sector news, including a new strategic partnership with social housing provider Magna Housing that aims to build almost 1,000 new affordable homes by 2026. 

Approach

Our initial strategy was a blend of proactive PR work and business development consultancy utilising our excellent connections in the construction sector. We identified key publications and target audiences for Rollalong and put together a strategy that would boost the company’s reach through traditional PR coverage, delivering information to the local and national media while also aiming news at business titles. We also provided expert intelligence and advice on industry trends, upcoming events and useful connections. 

Since the Covid-19 pandemic we have been working closely with Rollalong’s newly appointed Business Development Manager to plan and deliver a comprehensive marketing strategy and PR plan. This is a wide-ranging service which includes marketing collateral, website management, SEO, social media, PR, videography and more. 

Results

In four years from 2019 to 2023 we successfully: 

 

  • Delivered a new website for Rollalong 
  • Secured 171 items of coverage in the media, including sector-specific publications 
  • Generated 16,976,089 opportunities to see (OTS) 
  • Increased interaction and engagement across social media year on year 

The team at Shooting Star have been instrumental in helping to develop our profile, industry connections and communications strategy over the last four years.

They are now responsible for our social media, traditional PR, media relations and marketing activity and also support us with business development. We have been impressed by their level of experience, knowledge of the wider sector and ability to put Rollalong at the forefront.
