A £35,000 investment in a new commercial laminator will help Lincoln-based design and print specialist Ruddocks speed up turnaround times for customers.

Ruddocks has taken delivery of a Foliant Mercury 530ss to handle the growing demand for short-run lamination work.

The new piece of kit will allow the printing and finishing team to process a lot more work in-house, which will in turn mean that they can turn around printing and finishing jobs much faster.

“The Foliant Mercury 530ss can deliver 12,000 single-sided sheets per hour and at maximum speed can produce 10 metres per minute,” said Ruddocks’ Production Manager Ady Potter.

“We like to print as much as possible in-house so that we can guarantee the quality of our work, but for short runs in particular the demand was getting too much for our previous hand-fed laminator.”

The new kit will enable the Ruddocks team to produce laminated sheets up to B2 size quickly and efficiently. It will also free up staff who would otherwise have been hand feeding a smaller laminator.

Ady concluded: “Customers often need print jobs doing quickly, but also cost-effectively, which is why we try to do as many jobs as possible in-house. With the addition of the Foliant Mercury we can offer speedy print runs for many more clients.”
