Lincoln’s Think Tank Celebrates 10 Years of Success

Glasses were filled and cake was cut at Lincoln’s Think Tank last week (14th December) when the centre for innovation celebrated its 10th birthday.

Think Tank, which provides low-cost office space for small and medium-sized enterprises, invited a range of businesses and partners to the party to celebrate the milestone occasion.

Lincoln-based TV presenter Jason Bradbury led the celebrations with a presentation on the importance of innovation and information technology.

Speaking at the celebratory buffet lunch, Jason said: “Lincoln has pockets of cutting-edge innovation and creativity, and what’s great about Think Tank is it brings them all together – it’s become a beacon for a certain way of thinking.

“There’s a real variety of industries here who I’ve already spoken to. It’s a beautiful and an important space.

“With developments in information technology, the next 10 years for Think Tank will be more amazing than the previous 10.”

Lincoln’s Think Tank, located on the Lincoln Science and Innovation Park, was opened in 2008 by City of Lincoln Council. Now managed by the University of Lincoln, it continues to help and host businesses with ambitious growth plans.

Sue Cadd, Innovation Manager at Think Tank, organised the birthday party.

“It’s just fantastic that we’ve reached the point we have,” said Sue. “Firstly, with the support from City of Lincoln Council and now from the University of Lincoln, many businesses have left Think Tank and gone on to even greater things.

“Think Tank has been the home of many businesses over the years and it’s become Lincoln’s hub for new ideas, innovation and growth. Long may that continue over the decade to come.”

One of the businesses currently based at Think Tank is music production company BMP Recordings. According to their recording engineer and editor Will Anderson, they have benefitted from the large and accessible office space at the building.

“We’ve been at Think Tank for the last year and a half,” said Will. “Thanks to Think Tank, we’ve got more space to set up and store equipment which wasn’t possible in our previous office. Think Tank has been great for us.

“We want to expand our work with music publishers and employ more staff. Having the space to be able to take on more staff will make it a lot easier.”

Think Tank has a strong ethos and track record of offering businesses everything they need to accelerate growth and success, including business advice, support, mentoring and funding.
