QEGS Opens the Door to Prospective Pupils Online
Year 6 students hoping to go to Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School (QEGS) in Horncastle and their parents are being invited to the school’s first ever virtual open evening.
Owing to the coronavirus visitor numbers are restricted so this year QEGS is showcasing its first-class teaching and learning facilities via video.
At 6.30pm on Thursday 15th
October visitors to the QEGS website will be able to get a first look at the new video and hear from current students and staff. There will also be a live Q&A session via email.
Headteacher Simon Furness explained: “We’re really disappointed we can’t invite children and their parents for a tour of the school like usual but we hope our online open evening will give them a real feel of what’s it’s like to study here.
“Our staff work extremely hard to help all of our young people achieve success and fulfil their ambitions and I think that comes across in the video. We are extremely proud of our students and their excellent attitude to school life which is why we wanted to put them front and centre.
“Starting secondary school is a big step so we’ve tried to provide as much information as we can, not just on the school but also about each faculty, and we have filmed interviews with all the faculty leaders.
“We hope that we have answered the questions people are most likely to ask but just in case parents will also have the opportunity to email their questions to us live on the night and of course, those who can’t make it will be able to watch all of the videos on the website at a later date.”
To preview the evening the school has also produced a short promo video which can be viewed on YouTube via the website.
Parents who have any questions can contact the school by emailing openevening@qegs.lincs.sch.uk or by calling 01507 522465.
