New Lincoln Venue Announces First Live Music Listings of 2023
Southside, formerly St Katherine’s Church and the Priory Centre, is the new home of live music in Lincoln, and it’s announced its weekly event listings including jazz, folk and jam nights.
Having opened in autumn last year, Southside’s focus is to bring music, events and activities to the south of the city. After hosting popular festive events during the lead-up to Christmas, Southside is starting the new year with a variety of weekly events throughout January and February.
“We are looking forward to a 2023 full of music and community,” said Emily Nichol, Operations Director at Southside.
“With these new events we believe there is something for everyone to enjoy and we hope as many people as possible choose to spend an evening with us here at Southside.”
Kicking off the new roster of events is Southside’s fortnightly Commuter Jazz event which showcases some of the region’s best talent in jazz, Latin and world music. The next concert takes place on Friday 20th January and features a performance from the Thom Whitworth Trio, playing original compositions as well as jazz standards.
This month Southside is also presenting its first Jam Night. This is open to anyone who wishes to perform, and you can expect original material, covers, improvisations and more. Jam nights are set to become a monthly event at the venue, and the first one will take place on Wednesday 25th January.
Another new event set to become a monthly occurrence at Southside is Thursday Folk Night. Starting on 16th February, these events will feature folk artists from across the county and beyond. More artist announcements are coming soon.
The last of the new monthly events that have been announced is Southside’s Snug Sessions, starting on Thursday 23rd February. Snug Sessions are more relaxed and intimate events where you can enjoy live music and drinks in a cozy environment. The first performer is local Julia Rose and future sessions will continue to promote grassroots music and support local talent.

- Colin Webb, Director of Acoustic Nations and St Katherine’s Care, has purchased both buildings.
