Weekend Festival to Celebrate the Tango

They say it takes two to tango, and you can find out for yourself at Lincoln’s first ever Tango Festival next month.

Lincoln Tango Festival 2022 takes place on the weekend of 18th to 20th November at SouthSide, Lincoln’s newest cultural and community venue in the south of the city.

Lovers of the passionate Latin dance should expect a weekend packed with entertainment, food and fun.

The festival will include workshops by international tango star and teacher Raquel Greenberg and sessions for complete beginners by Chris Shields, tango instructor at the Instituto Cervantes
in Manchester.

Martin Espindola will be coming to Lincoln all the way from London’s Covent Garden with his band Tango Terra, who will play live music at the Festival Milonga on the Saturday evening.

Then on the Sunday guest DJ Ali Pickard will host a Farewell Tea Dance.

“Whether you’re a tango lover, a beginner or just curious, we can guarantee there will be an activity to suit you!” said Colin Webb, organiser of the Tango Festival and owner of SouthSide. “We particularly encourage beginners to take part in Chris’ workshops.

“The festival welcomes tango dancers at all levels of experience, with or without a partner. Anyone can book for any of the workshops without a partner, and there will also be an opportunity to have a private lesson with Raquel or Chris.”

Refreshments including vegetarian and vegan options will be served throughout the whole weekend.
