And the Award Goes To…
We’re never ones to shy away from a celebration so we were only too happy to attend the Select Lincolnshire Food and Drink Awards last week (7th February) at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln.
Although some of the team had to work on the night behind the scenes on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council’s onlincolnshire project, Director Jez Ashberry was responsible for judging the best restaurant category in the Lincolnshire Life section and got to enjoy the spectacular five-course dinner.
The rest of us weren’t jealous in the slightest…honest! Instead we were hard at work ensuring that those people who couldn’t make it to the event could still enjoy the night’s festivities from the comfort of their own arm chair courtesy of the Internet.
For the first time the awards, which celebrate the county’s top food and drink producers, cafés, pubs, restaurants, tea shops and accommodation, were live streamed via the onlincolnshire website.
The live streaming attracted huge support from the Lincolnshire community with hundreds of people watching. Other interactive elements the onlincolnshire team brought to the night included a live Twitter feed and a Twitter wall.
Guests were also invited to vote for their favourite flavoured chocolate using a QR code and their mobile phone, which was then served on the night with coffee.
The Select Lincolnshire Food and Dink awards was one of eight events onlincolnshire is ‘wiring’ as a way of demonstrating the opportunities digital technology can provide to businesses, communities and residents.
The next ‘wired-up’ event will be the onlincolnshire digital conference on 13th March which is free to attend and will provide delegates with useful advice on how you can use digital technology more effectively in your own business and fully exploit its potential. KS
