Party Time Italian Style!

The people at Carluccio’s certainly know how to throw a party!

Around 200 invited guests attended a launch event last night at the new Italian restaurant and foodshop which opened last week on Lincoln’s High Street, and we were lucky enough to snag an invite.

Hosting the celebration was Antonio Carluccio himself, who set up his first café in London in 1999. The genial Italian chef and food writer had just flown back to the UK from Australia but he still had the energy to chat to guests with that trademark twinkle in his eye.

As you’d expect, the food on offer was delicious: pancetta-wrapped prawns, rice balls (arancini) with a pesto filling, rare beef on crostini and mozzarella wrapped in grilled zucchini are just a few that spring to mind. After all that we still had to find room for a tasty mushroom risotto and dessert!

The ambience was friendly, the service was excellent and the music provided by an enthusiastic accordionist was lively!

It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves at the opening of another high-quality restaurant in the centre of Lincoln. Buon appetito! JA
