Our Birthday Wish on a Shooting Star

This week we’re looking forward to blowing out the candles on our ninth birthday cake!

We’ve come a long way since the early days in 2006, when directors Kate Strawson and Jez Ashberry blazed a trail by setting up Lincoln’s first dedicated public relations agency.

At the time, the city had welcomed a lot of new businesses, but compared to other counties in the East Midlands and the rest of the UK there were very few public relations agencies to help promote them and their services.

With more than 20 years’ combined experience in the media industry and aspirations of being their own boss, Kate and Jez saw a gap in the market and struck out on their own to set up Shooting Star PR.

It wasn’t long before the business took off and Kate and Jez needed to recruit their first employees. Our team has changed over the years and we’ve welcomed several new staff and supported them as they developed their skills and gained more experience in the industry.

More recently the team has evolved to include a Digital & PR Account Manager and a Marketing Manager who can provide guidance to clients in these areas.

We’ve also undergone a brand refresh, including (as you may have already noticed) dropping PR from our name, so our brand truly reflects all of the services we now offer of clients: PR, marketing and digital.

So, as we collectively draw breath to blow out the candles we’ll be wishing for a number of things for the next year – more new clients, more great stories and the continued development of our thriving team.
