Overview

Founded in 1981, Micrometric is a European leader in the laser processing of materials and uses an array of laser manufacturing services to produce fine parts and precision components for international customers across many sectors including aerospace, medical, automotive, electronics and oil and gas.

Objectives

Micrometric is a long-standing client and appointed Shooting Star in 2019 to assist in building brand awareness and raising its profile in key sectors.

Approach

Shooting Star’s approach was to first undertake an audit of the PR and marketing activity to fully understand the brand. We then created a strategic marketing and communications plan with key activities over a 12-month period. 

We helped Micrometric to raise its profile through PR support, project managing the build of a new website, setting up social channels including LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, content creation and using its 40th anniversary year as a platform to secure features in sector media and amplify key messages.  

We continue to work closely with Micrometric as an extension of its team to manage the social media channels, develop creative content including video, plan and activate paid media campaigns to drive traffic to the website, issue news releases, pitch news stories to journalists, write features and blogs, organise regular customer newsletters and support with event management. As part of its CSR strategy for the past few years Micrometric has sponsored the annual Shooting Star Chippy Quiz which supports local charities. 

Results

  • For the company’s 40th anniversary in 2023 we secured 14 pieces of media coverage including Med-Tech Innovation News, Manufacturing and Engineering Magazine (MEM) and Racecar Engineering with a reach of over 100K across local business and key sector media. 
  • Increased followers on LinkedIn by 171% since 2021. 
  • The ongoing Google PPC campaign has generated over 5,000 clicks to the website since launching in October 2021 with over 100K impressions generating important new leads.
