Marking Ten Years with Marathon Charity Challenge
To celebrate our 10th birthday, the Shooting Star team will be tackling a marathon each throughout August – all in aid of our charity of the year.
Between us, we’ll be travelling the distance between our two offices in Lincoln and Bristol – a total of 181 miles.
We’ve decided to complete the first 16 miles each in our time, before our Lincoln team comes together at the end of the month to tackle their final 60 miles together. Our Account Director in Bristol, Sarah-Jane, is bravely going to conquer all 26 miles when she cycles the whole length of the Bristol to Bath Railway Path and back.
This particular challenge is a first of its kind for our agency and is certainly a lot different from our annual chippy quiz fundraiser!
For any sporty types, it might seem a more than manageable achievement but for the parents, performers and entrepreneurs that make up our team, this will be another commitment in our already busy routines.
However, that’s not to say we are any less committed; in fact, quite the opposite, as we’ll be raising some much-needed funds for the Lincolnshire Carers and Young Carers Partnership (LCYCP) along the way.
The LCYCP, based in Lincoln, signposts people of all ages who provide unpaid care to essential information and support while also representing the voice of carers through a range of projects and initiatives.
We have been supporting them with free PR guidance and advice as part of our charity of the year initiative, which also includes raising money where possible.
We wanted to celebrate our 10th birthday by giving something back to the community and the LCYCP is a cause that everyone at Shooting Star is passionate about.
