Fourth Chippy Quiz Was the Plaice to Be!

Kate and Leah web cropIt’s been months in the planning but all the hard work paid off earlier this week when we raised a mighty £1,257 from our chippy quiz in aid of charity Every-One.

A record 16 teams took part in the fourth annual Quiz, Chips & Mushy Peas at the Elite Fish & Chip Company on Tritton Road on 21st November.

As quizmaster Jez Ashberry got down to business a hush fell over the restaurant as the contestants’ grey matter sprung into action!

As well as eight rounds of questions covering everything from general knowledge to children’s TV, there was a raffle with prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

During the break guests also enjoyed a delicious fish and chip supper complete with Elite’s moreish mushy peas.

The money raised will be added to our £575 Star Challenge fundraising total and donated to our charity of the year, Every-One, a Lincolnshire charity which supports carers and people that are cared for.

We would like to say a special thanks to Adrian and Donna Tweedale and their staff at The Elite, who were not only fantastic hosts for the evening but also donated the food for free, which boosted the overall total considerably.

The winning team – All New Byzantine Pottery Club, led by Chief Executive of Lincolnshire Sport Janet Inman – took home a selection of wine and a cheese hamper donated by The Cheese Society.

The Elite Fish & Chip Company also chose ‘Not Bad, Cod Do Batter’ as the best team name and donated a £20 voucher to the winners to spend in the restaurant and takeaway.

Thanks to everyone who took part or donated a raffle prize – we hope to see you all next year! KS
