Get Yourself a Starring Role
Here at Shooting Star PR we believe in giving a hand-up to talented people with a bright future in the PR industry, which is why we launched our Rising Stars internship scheme in 2010.
We have great connections with the University of Lincoln and each year we offer the opportunity for a second-year student of PR or journalism to undertake an internship with us.
That undergraduate spends one day a week during term-time working as a fully fledged member of staff within our agency – writing news releases, researching stories, handling calls from journalists and going out on photo shoots.
It’s a great experience which teaches students an awful lot about what it’s like to work in a PR agency. It also tells us a great deal about the skills and potential of our interns, and we’re pleased to say that all three Rising Stars we have appointed so far are going on to great things.
Today we will be interviewing candidates for the role starting in September 2012 and we hope they’ll meet the high standards set by our last three interns!
Carly Smith was our first Rising Star, a marketing and PR student at the University of Lincoln who has since graduated and landed her dream job working in motorcycle PR with RBP International.
Lucy Bingham (Journalism and PR) and Kirsty Pavely (Marketing and PR) have both secured fantastic year-long work placements for next year – and they say their year at Shooting Star PR really helped.
Lucy will be working at sport, fashion and beauty agency Brandnation while Kirsty will be spending the year with pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline.
