Our Clients in the News
At Shooting Star, we make it our business to raise our clients’ profile and enhance their reputation. And nothing says you’ve hit the big time quite like making the headlines in the national media.
Recently, a fair few of our clients have been featured in national news outlets, for all the right reasons!
In February, Bishop Grosseteste University (sponsors of Lincoln City FC) made it into the Daily Express and Daily Star when Lincoln progressed to the quarter finals of the FA Cup!
In May, Secret World Wildlife Rescue, a charity based in Somerset, appeared not once, not twice, but three times – just a few days apart – in the national media. Stories about Smoky the hedgehog, Burt the blonde hedgehog and Harry the heron appeared on ITV and the BBC.
In the midst of their crowdfunding campaign Leon Ifayemi and Omar Fahmi, founders of SPCE – a revolutionary app for the student accommodation market – were interviewed by the Guardian as part of a feature on rivalry and competition in the start-up sphere.
We’re pleased to be able to say that SPCE ended up exceeding its crowdfunding target by an impressive 30%, which we’re certain will have been helped by its national coverage.
Owing to their openness and charisma, Leon and Omar have forged strong relationships with the media and have since been approached by journalists and achieved further coverage.
Our Bristol charity of the year, Marmalade Trust, which tackles the issue of loneliness, was invited to comment on an article about self-service tills and the elderly in early May and were featured in The Times.
And just last week the charity had a five-minute live slot on BBC One Points West to promote the launch of the very first Loneliness Awareness Week.
However, our clients’ coverage doesn’t stop there! On to a sporting theme and superbike rider Maria Costello who was featured in the i newspaper following her climb to the top within a male-dominated sport.
Towards the end of last year, British F1 Sidecar champions Ricky & Ryan made an impact on sports correspondent Mike Bushell, as he tried his hand at sidecar racing. This was shown during a primetime slot on a Saturday morning edition of BBC Breakfast.
More recently, we secured some national coverage for one of our longest-standing clients The Elite Fish & Chip Company. The award-winning Lincolnshire chain of restaurants and takeaways was featured in the Virgin Entrepreneur Blog earlier this month.
