Shooting Star Celebrates its 13th Birthday!
We will be celebrating with our clients, partners, suppliers and staff with cakes (obviously!) as a little thank you for their support.
Established in Lincoln in September 2006 by directors Kate Strawson and Jez Ashberry, Shooting Star was the first dedicated PR consultancy to set up in the city and has since then expanded its services to include marketing and digital.
Kate and Jez had one aim: to help businesses be more successful by raising their profile and enhancing their reputation – and that is still our mission today.
Even though the tools we use may have changed, our reason for coming to work in the morning is the same. Nothing makes us happier than reading about our clients’ expansion plans or new business wins in the national news or on social media.
As well as growing the team and taking on two new Rising Star interns, Shooting Star has won 12 new retainer clients this year and achieved a record high turnover in 2018/19.
Director Kate Strawson said: “It’s all down to the hard work of our team, which is growing by the minute! We’ve welcomed three new members of staff to our offices in Lincoln and Newark since the beginning of the year, taking us from eight to 11, and we have another new member of staff coming on board this month, so we’re the biggest we’ve ever been.”
Earlier this year Shooting Star opened a new office in the historic town of Newark managed by Kerri Saxby, who relocated from the Lincoln office. Together with new Rising Star intern Amelia White, Kerri has built up a strong client base including Rollalong based in Dorset, which is the largest off-site design and build contractor in the south of the UK.
The Lincoln team has also welcomed Rising Star intern Tatiana Davey, who joined us at the end of July, to support newly promoted account manager Zoe Lamb.
This year, not only have we achieved great results for our clients, we have also been shortlisted for two Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide awards. This is our fourth award nomination this year alone, and it’s a great feeling to be in the running in both the Arts, Sports or Culture Campaign and Low Budget Campaign categories.
Since the beginning, supporting local charities has been at the heart of our business, and we’re pleased to have adopted our 12th Charity of the Year in January, supporting them with free PR and Marketing for 12 months. Every year we receive lots of applications from charities, which are all worthy causes in their own rights, and the challenge is always to choose just one!
It’s always a difficult decision to make, but our whole team was deeply moved by the story behind Help Me, I’m Fine. Applications for our next Charity of the Year 2020 will open in December 2019.
As a team collectively we have over 120 years of experience in the marketing and communications industry. We regularly get together to develop ideas for clients that will provide them with the best results, allowing us to support businesses, organisations and charities across the country with the best possible services in PR, marketing and digital.
As we enter our 14th year, we’d like to thank our all our clients old and new for working with us and allowing us to deliver great results for them.
We’d also like to thank our dedicated staff; their hard work has allowed us to become who we are. We are now eagerly awaiting the opportunities the next year will bring!
