Celebrating Our Wonderful Women This International Women’s Day!
We’re proud of the diverse team of strong women (and men!) that make our agency shine.
Every member of our team is valued and never underestimated in their contribution to our success, regardless of age, experience or gender.
Ahead of this International Women’s Day, we wanted to recognise and celebrate the success and accomplishments of our female team members by sharing their proudest achievements at Shooting Star!
Director Kate kick-started the conversation by telling us her proudest achievement: “My proudest achievement is setting up Lincoln’s first dedicated PR agency and recently celebrating our 13th year in business!
“It’s thanks to a lot of hard work and an amazing team of people that Shooting Star is the success it is today.”
Junior Account Executive Millie added: “My proudest achievement since joining the wonderful team at Shooting Star as a Rising Star intern last July is undoubtedly being promoted to Junior Account Executive!
“Throughout the entirety of my time working as an intern, I felt I was a genuinely valued member of the team and was given all the responsibility of an account executive, which allowed me to grow in both confidence and skill, while working on some great client accounts. I’m proud to be part of this team.”
Account Manager Zoe said: “Without a doubt, the thing I am most proud of achieving during my time at Shooting Star is being included in the 2019 Lincolnshire 30 Under 30 shortlist.
“It was my colleagues who put me forward and for that I will always be grateful. I will never forget the moment I received the surprise email to say I’d not only been nominated but shortlisted too; I was genuinely speechless and anyone who knows me knows that’s rare!
“I’m from Northamptonshire originally, so it feels extra special to be included in a list of Lincolnshire rising stars.”
Interim Account Manager Nikki commented: “While at Shooting Star I have been lucky enough to work alongside my amazing colleagues and celebrate lots of proud and wonderful moments along the way.
“The moments I’m most proud of would have to be securing my first piece of national coverage in The Guardian within the first nine months of joining the team, along with starting out as an intern and rising through the ranks to become an Account Manager in under three years!”
Marketing Manager Sharon added: “I’ve been part of the team at Shooting Star for five years, but I think one of my proudest moments was standing on the stage at the CIPR Pride awards (twice!) taking a Gold and Silver award for recognition for the work our team had done. A very proud moment!”
Senior Account Executive Mel told us her proudest achievement: “My proudest moment during my time at Shooting Star so far has been my involvement in the opening of The Elite Fish & Chip Company’s fourth restaurant and takeaway in Lincoln’s historic Bailgate, Elite on the Bail.
“It was such a great feeling to witness the opening after all the preparation and planning that took place behind the scenes, and to know that I’ve played my part in helping the company to grow and succeed. The opening of a new restaurant outlet was a completely new marketing challenge for me; I’m proud to have tackled it head-on and to have gained valuable experience from it!”
Although International Women’s Day is about celebrating women, we couldn’t neglect recognising the accomplishments of our wonderful Director Jez, and our Digital Marketer Sam.
Jez said: “My proudest achievement – though I can’t take all the credit – is bringing together a team of caring and creative people who make working at Shooting Star a real pleasure!”
Sam added: “My proudest moment since joining Shooting Star was speaking at the PM Forum annual conference.
“Standing in front of senior marketers from the largest legal and accountancy firms was terrifying, but the feedback I received was brilliant. It made me realise that I should be a lot more confident in my abilities as a marketer.”
International Women’s Day takes place this year on Sunday 8th March 2020.
