New Year, New Start – Welcome to Dan!
This week we welcome Dan Bratton to the team as our new Digital Content Executive. Let’s get to know him…
Dan has a background rooted in creativity, having gained a degree in photography and an MSc in digital marketing. A social media whizz, Dan will be focussed on social media strategy and planning as well as creating new and engaging content for Shooting Star and our clients.
Welcome to Shooting Star Dan! Can you tell us about yourself?
I am Lincolnshire born and raised so getting the opportunity to stay and work in the county is really important to me.
I spend a lot of my time online, especially on social media platforms like Instagram, X, TikTok etc. It is something which comes naturally to me. I even have an Instagram page for my miniature dachshund Gus, which has helped me to develop a whole new playbook of social media skills! It isn’t just work for me, I genuinely enjoy immersing myself in content, creating and learning new things.
What made you want to work in marketing?
My first introduction to the world of marketing was during my photography degree. I learnt how to market myself as a freelancer and how to stand out online, especially when there is so much content being uploaded to the internet every day. I really enjoyed these classes, it kick–started my interest in marketing and led me to taking my digital marketing master’s degree at Nottingham Trent University. I think having a mix of creative and theoretical background gives me a unique outlook on marketing and social media.
Making the move from in-house marketing to agency
Making the move from working as an in-house marketer to a more specialised role within a creative marketing agency was ultimately the right decision for me to make. I love to keep things varied and interesting – working with multiple clients to help them improve their online presence is an exciting challenge!
Why Shooting Star?
I wanted to work at Shooting Star because of the culture and the emphasis on employee mental health, as well as being part of a close-knit team. I wanted to work for a company where you are more than just a cog in the machine – I feel that Shooting Star really makes an impact. Joining the agency is the perfect way for me to grow as a marketer and develop myself both personally and professionally.
What are you looking forward to?
As clichéd as it sounds, I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in and involved with as much as I can. I want to learn as much as possible and get out of my comfort zone, especially with public speaking and meeting with clients. I am excited to meet new people and start creating meaningful content for both Shooting Star and our clients.
