Shooting Star Enlists Google to Help Put Businesses on the Map
As an agency that offers a range of marketing, digital and PR services, it goes without saying that we’re thrilled to be teaming up with the Google experts to deliver a free Google Garage event.
Designed to help businesses across the East Midlands grow their presence online, the free workshop is taking place at the Everyday Champion Centre in Newark, in partnership with Newark & Sherwood District Council, Invest Newark & Sherwood and Robert Jenrick MP, on Friday 12th July.
Those attending will benefit from three sessions covering social media strategy, an introduction to digital marketing and guidance on getting a business visible on Google.
Our Senior Marketing Manager Sharon and Digital Marketer Sam will be on hand throughout to share ideas on how businesses can improve on or begin to integrate digital platforms into their marketing.
There will also be a networking session at the end of the day.
We decided to set up this event as there is an unmet need within the Newark area for training around digital marketing and how it applies to small local businesses. We also opened a Newark office earlier this year, so it will help to grow our profile in the area.
A common misconception is that digital marketing is only about social media, which is why we’re happy that Google will be covering a wide range of topics – from the basics of digital marketing to building a business presence online and practical tips for social media.
Over the last four years we’ve bolstered the marketing and digital specialisms within our agency to ensure we’re catering for the needs of our ever-growing client base.
Sam, who joined the Shooting Star team in January 2019, has already delivered several workshops for us.
He hosted one on digital marketing for start-ups as part of the University of Lincoln SPARK accelerator programme, and four for the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce so he is pleased to be part of one in Nottinghamshire as well.
The Google Garage event runs from 9am until 3pm so refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. Places are limited to 80 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We touched on the importance of having a joined up PR and marketing strategy in a previous blog post and we’re confident that everyone who attends this Google Garage event will leave feeling well equipped to apply their learnings to their own businesses.
