On Your Marks, Get Set, Bike!

The Shooting Star team is no stranger to a challenge; whether it’s bringing our A-game to our famous chippy quiz or walking, running or swimming a whole marathon each, we’re a tenacious bunch…and even more so when it’s in the name of charity.

Now that Covid restrictions have been lifted, we’re eager to get more events back up and running and give back to the community. So we’ve decided to don our helmets and Lycra to raise money for our charity of the year, Headway Lincolnshire, by completing a sponsored bike ride!

On 10th September Jez, Kate, Emma and Molly will cycle 33 miles from the Shooting Star office in Lincoln to Headway Lincolnshire’s HQ in Boston via the Water Railway path.

It’s not quite the Tour de France, but as seasoned office-dwellers, social media gurus and parents who are more accustomed to scooting around the office on four-wheeled chairs than balancing on bikes, it will definitely be an interesting challenge!

We’ll be raising much-needed funds for Headway Lincolnshire, an organisation which supports survivors and their families across the county living with a brain injury following a physical assault, a stroke, epilepsy or a life-changing car or sporting accident for example.

The charity also offers free counselling for carers including a support group and social gatherings which deliver the coping skills and strategies that they need to sustain a healthy life while continuing to provide care for their loved one.

Headway Lincolnshire doesn’t receive any government funding and all proceeds will help the team to continue their support work.
